MICHAL MARTIKAN
The
following text is about the life of one of the best athletes for me, attending
to the 2012 OlImpics games in London- 2012. In this opportunity is this city in
charged to welcome the most outstanding athletes of the world.
Here, I want
to focus in one participant in particular. His name is
MICHAL MARTIKAN, is a sport heroe for me. He was born in Zilina (Slovakia) on May 18th,
1979. He is 33 years old. He was from 16
years old became the youngest winner of a world cups of a slalom canoeing
event. He was taking part in the discipline of the canoeing (slalom) in the Olimpic
games of London 2012. He was representing to Slovakia. He played ice hockey before paddling,
Being said
that; let’s take a look about his sport life,
MICHAL MARTIKAN is a Slovakia slalom canoeist. He began paddling when he was nine years
old. At the age of 16 Michal Martikan became the youngest
winner of a world cup of a slalom canoeing event. Three months later, at age 17,
he was in sixth place after the first run of the canoe slalom singles event at
the 1996 Olympics. He followed up his
surprising victory by becoming Slovakia's first gold medalist in 1996. He was a four-time European champion and one of the
most experienced and accomplished canoeists in the world. He
brings over 15 years in this discipline.
Among his
biggest achievements, it is important to mention that he won
MICHAL MARTIKAN
has been competing since the mind 1990s. In 1996 he became the first athlete to
win on Olympics Games’ gold medal for Slovakia since then, the country gained
independence. In total he won 4 Olympic medals (2 golds and 2 silvers) which
are the most among all slalom paddlers. He won C1 gold again in Beijing. He won the gold in Atlanta. He
has succeeded not only in the Olympics between 1995 and 2010 won a medal at
every World Championships, including four gold medals in singles before
finishing outside the top three for the first time in 2011.He has finished on the podium Olympics
since 1995. In 2008, he won European Championships. He has never finished lower than third.
To conclude this written, it is necessary for me to
say that MICHAL MARTIKAN. Is an athlete who has proved that no matter the
conditions, it is possible to success in life, so, He is for me, very important
and interesting role model. I hope, he wing the gold in London.
On
the other hand, I chose him because he is a sportsman who began his sports life
from a very young age and he has managed to be a great sportsman representing
his country.

Michal Martikan won a
bronze medal at the Olympic Games of London 2012. He holds up his medal during
the victory ceremony for the men's canoe single (C1) event at Lee Valley White Water
Centre during the London 2012 Olympic Games July 31, 2012.
For me Michal
Martikan shows that not always is first.
But I can always improve and proves that no
matter the age can be great people, only with effort, dedication and struggle
all done.
